What can  hard bread be used for? Bread rolls taste best fresh and as soon as you have hard  bread , you can’t do much with them – at least that’s what many think.

1. Breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs are widely used in the kitchen. Simply cut the bread into slices and then chop it up in the food processor until you’ve had enough. For this the bread should really be completely hard, because this makes the breadcrumbs finer.

Then pour it into a glass container and keep it for two more days before use. This will keep the breadcrumbs crispy.

Poor knights taste delicious! If you have enough stale white bread, you can use it to make this delicious dessert. Then you will find out how to do it:

ingredients

  • 1 hard baguette
  • 250 ml milk
  • 1 egg
  • 40 g of sugar
  • 20 g cinnamon
  • 40 g sunflower oil

preparation

  • Cut hard bread into slices and then soak in the milk flavored with cinnamon.
  • Then turn in the beaten egg on both sides.
  • Then the bread is fried in a pan with sunflower oil. So easy! Finally, sweeten with a little sugar and then this delicious dessert is ready.

    Hard bread can also be used excellently in this way. Croutons are perfect for  soups and salads. How are these prepared? Thats is quite easy:

    ingredients

    • 1/2 hard baguette or other stale bread
    • olive oil
    • aromatic herbs (e.g. thyme, oregano …)

    preparation

    • First cut the bread into thick slices and then into cubes.
    • Then fry in olive oil. Depending on your wishes, you can then add various herbs such as thyme, oregano or garlic. This is how the croutons taste great!
    • After that, the croutons are placed on kitchen paper to remove the excess fat. And you’re ready to use it.

      3. Canapés and original appetizers

      They taste excellent, are original and very easy to prepare: You can prepare various  creative canapés  for lunch or dinner or for special occasions and at the same time save on toast. This is how they are made:

      • Cut the hard bread into thin slices.
      • Then toast in the oven for a few minutes with a little oil, pepper and oregano.
      • As soon as the slices are golden brown and crispy, you can take them out of the oven and top them.
      • You can use  salmon and avocado  for this, for example.
      • They also taste excellent with cherry tomatoes, celery, garlic and a little blue cheese. Let your imagination run wild!

        Garlic bread is quick and easy to prepare and can then be combined with a wide variety of dishes. An excellent way to use stale bread! This is how it’s done:

        ingredients

        • 1 hard baguette
        • 50 g butter
        • 4 cloves of garlic
        • Sprig of parsley
        • pepper

        preparation

        • Preheat the oven to  160ºC.
        • Then cut the bread into slices, but don’t cut all the way through, only about halfway.
        • Melt the butter in the microwave, then mix with the crushed or crushed cloves of garlic, chopped parsley and a little pepper.
        • The butter is then spread on the cut slices, you can be generous. Be careful not to let the bread fall apart.
        • Now the bread is wrapped in aluminum paper and then baked in the preheated oven for 6 minutes.
        • Then remove the aluminum paper and bake the bread for another 5 minutes. The delicious garlic bread is ready. Let cool down briefly and then serve.

        Of course, there are many other uses for hard bread. But first you should definitely check that it is not moldy – this is particularly common with sandwich bread.

        But if the bread is in perfect condition, just hard, it would be a real shame to just throw it away.
