9 Foods With A Surprisingly High Amount Of Sugar

There is much more sugar in many foods than you might think. Therefore you should always analyze the ingredients carefully!

9 foods with a surprising amount of sugar

Many foods contain far more sugar than you might think.

Sugar is very important for the organism – but only in the right amount! Unfortunately, the unhealthy sweetness can now be found in practically every finished product and we ingest far too much of it.

For this reason, today we are concerned with various sugar traps so that you can avoid or at least reduce these foods for the sake of your health in the future.

An excess not only has a bad effect on the line,  it also increases the risk of vitamin B deficiency.

Those who eat a lot have a higher need for B-complex vitamins. If not enough of it is absorbed through food, it can lead to a deficiency in vitamins B1, B2 or B5, for example.

But that’s not all: It is well known that tooth decay promotes tooth decay even if you brush your teeth regularly.

The World Health Organization  advises that sugar should not make up more than 5% of total calorie intake.

It would be ideal to consume no more than 6 to 9 teaspoons a day. In very many cases, however, the amount of a week is consumed in a single day.

For this reason, it is very important  to know sugar traps in order to be able to reduce or avoid them. You shouldn’t forget about daily exercise either!

1. Tortillas and waffles

Tortillas

Perhaps you’ve eaten corn tortillas or rice cakes in between and you don’t think they’re very high in calories. However, you should keep in mind that these contain a lot!

For example, rice cakes with yogurt (33 g) contain 10.2 g of sugar, which is as much as 2.55 sugar cubes. When shopping, pay attention to the sugar-free version, which is also available.

2. Brown sugar

Is he actually healthier than whiter? Unfortunately the answer is no. It contains cane sugar molasses,  which gives it its color and a slightly different taste.

4 pieces of brown sugar contain 98% sugar, which means that there is practically no difference to white sugar. If you are looking for a sugar substitute, you should go for stevia.

3. Almond milk

Almond milk

Almond milk contains no fewer calories than conventional milk  because it is also supplemented with sugar (lactose).

  • A glass of milk contains roughly one 10g sugar packet, regardless of whether it is low-fat milk or not.

For people with lactose intolerance, there are other ways of supplying their organism with calcium that contain less sugar, such as lactose-free milk.

4. Tomato sauce

Tomato sauce is lower in calories than ready-made sauces for pasta, but it also contains a relatively high amount of sugar. A quantity of 210 ml contains around 16 g of sugar, i.e. 4 pieces of sugar.

legumes

Whole grains may be healthier than refined products,  but when it comes to ready-made mixes that are very popular for breakfast, care  should be taken.

6. Energy bar

Energy bars are very popular sources of energy, but there are also big differences here. Some products actually contain a lot of protein, others up to 48 g per bar!

Most snack bars contain too much sugar  and should therefore be avoided.

7. Salty cookies

Cookies

Although they taste salty, they still contain large amounts of sugar. 6 salty biscuits contain 25 g, which is the recommended daily amount, which should not be exceeded.

You should therefore be careful with salty snacks!

8. Dried fruits

Dried fruits are very healthy, but they should only be consumed in modest amounts. Because they are not only very high in calories, but also contain large amounts.
