Home Remedies That Could Help Against Extremely Dry Hair

Vegetable lipids care for the hair – in contrast to mineral oil components

Home remedies that could help against extremely dry hair

Our hair suffers especially in winter when it is bitterly cold outside and dry heating air in overheated interiors. Extremely dry hair is the result.

They become dry, brittle and strawy. Especially curly hair can hardly be tamed, but fine hair can also cause problems due to the formation of pods and burrs.

How does extremely dry hair develop ?

Unhealthy diet, incorrect styling, perms, hair color, brighteners, sunlight, sea water and dry heating air are just a few factors that result in extremely dry hair.

Of course, the cosmetics industry has already launched expensive remedies for extremely dry hair, but it is also easy and inexpensive to use hair treatments made from ingredients that everyone has in the household – and that taste good!

Why home remedies instead of commercial products?

Under synthetic hair care products we summarize all that contain ingredients that are not of purely vegetable origin. Most of these are waste products from the mineral oil industry, which are sold to us as care cosmetics for expensive money.

Silicones are very popular in hair care products. Silicones are by-products of the petroleum industry and have the only advantage in hair care that they make the hair feel softer and silky in the short term.

However, this is not a real hair care product, as the silicones only wrap around the individual hair like a layer and do not supply them with nutrients.

This layer around the hair means that real nutrients can no longer reach the hair and it becomes brittle and dry, and split ends can occur.

With regular use, silicones also weigh down the hair because layer by layer is deposited on the hair. You don’t notice it, however, because the hair feels well cared for thanks to the silicone layer!

Some mineral oil-based hair care products for extremely dry hair contain paraffins. These do not penetrate the skin or hair, but remain on the surface as a “lubricating film”. A care effect is not achieved by oils containing paraffin.

What really cares and nourishes hair?

If you really want to take care of your hair, you must not use synthetic “care” substances. Such substances are generally prohibited in natural cosmetics.

When you start to switch from synthetic care products to herbal ingredients, it makes sense to get a “hair peeling” from the hairdresser, which removes the accumulated silicones from your hair and makes it receptive for real hair care.

Then you should use vegetable oils that really care for your hair. But egg also helps supply your hair with nutrients. Why don’t you try our richly nourishing recipes!

Hair treatment

Application advice:

All cures have in common that they should be covered with a plastic cap (made of cling film, a plastic bag or a shower cap).

This intensifies the effect and prevents the treatment from drying out. Heat is also good for making the mixture work even better. So put on your hat or wrap a warm towel around your head!

Then wash the hair with a mild shampoo to remove any residue. It shouldn’t feel oily anymore, but it shouldn’t be washed with too aggressive shampoo either, in order to ” wash out” the effect again.

If you have extremely dry hair and frizzy curls, you can shampoo just the hairline after the treatment and rinse the rest of the treatment with lukewarm water. This makes the curls spring particularly beautiful!

avocado

Avocado conditioner

Ingredients:

  • ½ avocado
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 1 squirt of lemon juice

Finely puree the avocado half with a fork or a hand blender to a velvety pulp. Then mix in the oil and lemon juice.

Put the mixture on the hair and then wrap it in cling film or in a plastic bag and leave it on for half an hour or longer. Then wash your hair with a mild shampoo.

If you want, you can eat the leftovers straight away or enjoy them on toasted white bread with olive oil.

Fresh eggs

Coconut and egg treatment

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • A squeeze of lemon juice

Separate the yolks from the whites. Then mix the egg yolks with the coconut oil and lemon juice.

Apply the fragrant hair treatment to dry hair and then wash off after 30 minutes. The scent of coconut oil stays in your hair and reminds you of your tropical care experience all day long!

    olive oil

    Intensive treatment with salad oils

Natural vegetable oils are an easy way to care for your hair. In India, where women show the most impressive hair lengths, sesame oil is an all-rounder in beauty care.

We also use it as the basis for many hair oils. Sesame oil nourishes intensively and also penetrates deep into the skin. The ideal “all-purpose oil” for skin and hair!

Castor oil also helps relieve itchy scalp caused by dry air and can act as an intensive treatment for extremely dry hair overnight or for at least two hours before washing it out with a mild shampoo.
