4 home remedies for age spots

With increasing age, the skin changes and unsightly spots often appear, especially on the face and hands. Today we introduce you to 4 simple  home remedies for age spots  that take care of your skin at the same time.

Age spots: a sign of the times

With age, the body changes, which is particularly evident in the external appearance.

Various factors, such as sun exposure, lack of care, environmental factors or bad lifestyle habits have a negative impact on the health of the skin and can lead to age spots, among other things.

It is one of the most common signs of the normal aging process in the body. Often, however, spots appear very early, sometimes from the age of 40.

These spots are usually significantly larger than common freckles, are dark in color, and are superficial. They arise mainly from:

  • the back of the hand,
  • the forehead,
  • to the poor,
  • the face and
  • in the upper chest area.

Skin spots have no health effects, but they are unsightly, so many sufferers look for ways to reduce them.

Sun exposure is a major contributor to skin spots. It is therefore important to take precautionary measures: The sun is important in order to be able to produce vitamin D, but you should not expose yourself to the sun for too long, especially not at lunchtime when the radiation is intense.

In the summer in particular, staying in the fresh air for a long time can lead  to skin damage and accelerate the aging process. Pay attention to the necessary sun protection!

Products that increase photosensitivity can also cause age spots. These include, for example, various perfumes that can also cause allergic reactions when exposed to the sun.

Some people simply have sensitive skin and therefore develop spots more quickly than others.

General recommendations against age spots

Home remedies for age spots

Many women (and some men too) are concerned when spots form on their hands or face. Appropriate care is very important to weaken these and prevent further stains.

From the age of 30 to 35, it is advisable to take precautionary measures to prevent the formation of stains.

1. Avoid long exposure to the sun

Protection against UV radiation is essential to avoid skin damage. Intense solar radiation causes slight burns, which later become visible as age spots.

2. Use sun protection

On sunny and hot days, you should use sunscreen with a protection factor of at least 30.

Sun blockers and sun protection for children, which are particularly high, can be of great help for very light or sensitive skin.

3. Appropriate clothing

In summer you should avoid exposing yourself to the sun between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. if possible. In addition, it is also advisable to wear clothing that covers sensitive areas of the skin (for example the neck or back).
