Hair Care Before Going To Sleep
Before going to sleep, there are a few things to consider when it comes to hair care.
In the evening, you usually just want to go to bed. Lights out, eyes closed. And don’t spend a long time in the bathroom before you can finally slip into bed. Here are tips on how to care for your hair before going to sleep.
Because there are some things you should think carefully about if you don’t want to damage your hair.
Hair care before bed
The bed calls, and sometimes quite loud! But before you pursue your inner urge for bed rest, here are some things to keep in mind to avoid damaging your hair.
Remove hair clips
Even if you use those that should be particularly gentle on the hair. Hair care before bed includes removing all hair clips from your hair.
At night, the weight of your head rests on the hair clip, when you turn your head over the pillow, you rub your hair with great pressure (the weight of your head) over the edges of the hair clip.
This strains the hair and can lead to hair breakage. So take out all hair clips, including fine clips and hairpins!
Remove styling products
If you style your hair with gel, hairspray, foam, wax, or other setting products, then before you go to sleep is the time to remove the styling products.
This is usually very easy with brushing out or combing out. If you leave these products in the hair, hair damage or breakage can occur during the night if styling particles cause additional friction.
Brush out hair
Even if you don’t have any styling products in your hair: Before going to bed, please brush your hair vigorously once !
On the one hand, you use it to remove dust particles that have accumulated in your hair during the day (e.g. in the wind), and on the other hand, you detangle your hair before it becomes “messy” again while you sleep.
This makes it easier for you to comb them the next morning and you have to struggle with fewer knots and Velcro!
Bed hairstyle
Women with long hair in particular have got used to braiding their hair when sleeping or at least holding it together with a hair tie. So the long mane doesn’t bother you when you sleep.
If you want to do that too , make sure that you braid the braid very loosely and use a metal-free hair tie for the end. If the hair is long enough, you can also twist the braid into a knot and get by without hair ties.
It is also possible to gather the hair in a loose ponytail at the nape of the neck overnight. It should hair rubber but as thick as possible to be and also not contain metal.
If you sleep with a ponytail at night, you should never wrap the hair tie too tightly around your hair, otherwise your hair may break!
To bed with wet hair?
How practical: Wash out styling products and then go to bed with wet hair. A good idea? Yes and no. The hair should at least be towel dry and not dripping wet. In the course of the night you change your sleeping position and you would lie with your face or upper body in the wet.
In addition, the pillow, especially those made of down, could be damaged. If you can’t blow dry your hair before you go to sleep, put a thick, fluffy terry towel on your pillow. This will soak up the moisture from your hair.
Overnight hair care before bed
It’s a good idea to pamper your hair over the course of the night. A hair treatment can never work longer and more intensely than overnight! Just make sure that it doesn’t dry out during the night and that the hair becomes brittle as a result.
For example, wrap your hair in cling film or wear an old-fashioned shower cap. This will also prevent your pillow from becoming stained.
Hair treatment for the night
The scent of coconut oil immediately reminds us of the Caribbean, tropical vacations under palm trees, sun, sand and the sea. You can get this scent into your hair and then take advantage of the positive effects of coconut oil on your hair! And dream of tropical beaches at night …
Ingredients:
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- A squeeze of lemon juice
Separate the yolks from the whites. Mix the egg yolks with the coconut oil and lemon juice. Apply the fragrant hair treatment to dry hair and wrap it in foil or a shower cap. Leave on overnight.
Then wash the hair with a mild shampoo to remove any residue. It shouldn’t feel oily anymore, but it shouldn’t be washed with too aggressive a shampoo either, in order to “wash out” the effect immediately.
If you have frizzy locks, you can just shampoo the hairline after the treatment and rinse the rest of the treatment with lukewarm water. This makes the curls spring particularly beautiful!
